High School students take on Volunteer Initiative

Kids In a New Groove would love to take this time to thank these exceptional High School Students who went above and beyond to help youth in foster care:

Kathryn, inspired by an AP Human Geography class assignment and our mission, reached out to us earlier this year about volunteer opportunities. Upon hearing about the age requirement for Music Mentors (18 or older), she simply replied with a list of brain- stormed ideas on how she can engage her community and friends in spreading awareness for Kids In a New Groove. This entrepreneurial spirit led her to working with us in passing out informational pamphlets in her neighborhood and hosting a Karaoke Night at a bowling alley with friends to raise money.

Thank you so much Kathryn!

The other two boys, Harrison and Tristan, came in to interview our Program Manager Laura Wood for a similar school project. After having learned about our program and what we do in further depth, the two also played around with several different ideas on how they could host an event - the idea of a battle of the bands bounced around in their heads - selling KING shirts, spreading awareness in their school... until they ended in a fairly successful GoFund Me campaign that can be found if you click here.

Thank you so much Harrison and Tristan!

We love being able to engage with people who are willing to donate your time, if you're interesting in volunteering with us please don't hesitate to reach out!
